The 32nd HERDSA international conference, THE STUDENT EXPERIENCE, will be hosted by Charles Darwin University from July 6 – 9, 2009.

Please note that airfares and accommodation for Darwin in July are decidedly expensive and you will need to book ASAP for the best deals. To assist those prospective participants who will need to know that their paper/showcase/workshop/poster has been accepted before booking flights etc., we have introduced an early submission deadline of November the 20th, 2008. If you submit your full paper or showcase/poster/workshop abstract by the 20th of November, we will let you know if your submission has been successful by mid January. We also have the regular final submission deadline of February 20th, 2009 for all contributions. For those who submit by the February deadline we expect to let you know the success of your submission by mid April.

Darwin’s July weather is dry and sunny with low humidity and a temperature range of approximately 19 – 30 degrees centigrade. Please refer to the 2 minute video clip on the conference home page for further information about the delights of Darwin in July.

The conference planning is well under way. Keynote speakers Professor George Kuh (Indiana University, USA ), Professor Elizabeth Harman (Victoria University, Australia) and Professor Ron Oliver (Edith Cowan University, Australia) will address the following topics:

· What is the one thing we should do to increase student engagement and success on our campus?

· Diversity and the student experience: targeting specific student needs in a multi-sector university.

· Taking the distance out of off-campus learning.
